Powerful 999cc twin-cylinder engine

Experience unparalleled power with our liquid-cooled 999cc inline-twin engine, boasting high horsepower, ample torque, and unmatched refinement throughout the rpm range.

Unicam® cylinder head design

Using the same proven Unicam® cylinder head design found in our championship-winning CRF450R motocrosser helps make the engine more compact, allowing us to position it for optimal weight distribution and ground clearance.

Learn More

High lift, long-duration camshaft

Giving the engine a high-lift, long-duration camshaft improves its breathing and yields power throughout the rpm range.

Roller rocker arms

Roller-tip rocker arms in the valve train reduce engine friction, improve efficiency, and increase power output at higher revs.

Large throttle bore size

Our engineers gave the engine twin 46mm throttle bores for better breathing and airflow, complementing the potent camshaft specs. You'll feel and hear the difference when you hit the throttle.

High-flow fuel injectors

Increasing the amount of air and fuel results in more power. This engine delivers exceptional off-road performance and is equipped with a hot cam, throttle body, and high-flow fuel injectors.

Semi-dry-sump lubrication

The semi-dry-sump design keeps engine oil away from the crankshaft. It ensures more positive oiling under extreme conditions, eliminating windage losses and ensuring better oiling under extreme driving conditions.

Engine air intake

Clean air is vital for optimal engine performance. Our design places the air filter high over the engine in the rear and the air intake off to the side to promote a constant supply of clean air.

Dual-pin offset crankshaft

By offsetting the cylinders’ two crankpins by 270 degrees, the engine delivers a broad powerband and abundant torque, while counterbalancers help keep everything running smoothly.

Tuned exhaust

An equally tuned exhaust system is necessary for improved intake and fuel delivery. This system produces beautiful mechanical exhaust notes and ensures smooth and even engine power delivery.

High-capacity cooling system

When it comes to challenging terrains like rock crawling, deserts, dunes, and high altitudes, your side-by-side's cooling can be put to the test. That's why we equipped all of our Talons with a high-capacity system.

Oil-jet pistons

Squirting oil onto the underside of the pistons helps them run cooler and seal better. This combination allows the pistons to live longer and helps the engine make more power.

Rubber-mounted engine and exhaust

In addition to the suspension, we rubber-mounted the engine and exhaust system to insulate the cabin against excessive vibration. We also gave the engine four mounts to add strength under high loads.

FOX Live Valve 2.5 shocks

The FOX Live Valve model features cutting-edge semi-active FOX suspension that dynamically adjusts compression damping for each wheel. This system offers reduced body roll, smoother terrain navigation, and superior resistance to bottoming.

Independent front suspension

Dual A-arm suspension gives you 17.6 inches of front travel. Pair that with stellar ground clearance, and you understand why the SxS handles so well and is so comfortable in rough terrain.

4+ link rear suspension

Honda's 4+ link rear suspension provides superior handling by maintaining wheel geometry even with 20.1 inches of travel. This ensures that the rear wheels' toe changes only slightly throughout the entire stroke, improving chassis stability under extreme suspension deflection.

Weight bias

A slight rear weight bias works best for optimal sport driving. This is why we set up the Talons with 44% of their weight over the front and 56% over the rear.

Longer wheelbase

The 90.0-inch wheelbase contributes to this sport side-by-side’s impressive stability and control. It's slightly longer than the Talon 1000X's and provides excellent high-speed tracking and a smooth ride on rough terrain.

High-performance brakes

High-performance brakes come standard, featuring 250mm discs at all four corners, squeezed by 34mm twin-piston calipers up front and 34mm single-piston calipers out back. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) optimizes front and rear braking power.

Electric Power Steering

Honda's Electric Power Steering (EPS) technology is continually improving. It eliminates bump steer, reduces fatigue, and provides added assistance in 4WD, lower speeds, and rough conditions. The system is specially tuned for sport-driving, and there are no belts or pumps to slip, break, or leak.

Tighter turning radius

Compared to the previous 1000R model, we’ve given it a tighter turning radius, improving maneuverability, which makes loading, unloading, and navigating technical terrain easier.

Automatic six-speed DCT

Our automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) boasts a class-leading gear-driven setup, giving you manual or automatic control. It has efficient power delivery, true engine braking, and superior performance to belt-driven CVTs.

Learn More

Advanced Transmission Logic

The brain of the DCT, Advanced Transmission Logic, senses how you drive and adapts. Relaxed drivers get earlier shifts, while for sportier drivers, it will hold each gear longer. And when going downhill, you get true engine braking.

i-4WD

All Talons showcase the second generation of our exclusive i-4WD system. Think “i” for “intelligent” because that’s precisely what it is. An industry-first brake-traction control system that helps maintain front-wheel traction even if one wheel wants to spin.

Learn More

Paddle shifting

Steering column-mounted paddle shifters add performance and fun. They let you shift without taking your hands off the steering wheel, and in Automatic mode, they let you override the current gear.

2WD/4WD shift on the fly

Elevate your driving experience with our torque-biasing brake i-4WD traction control system. Enjoy traction when you need it, effortless steering when you want it, and all without the need for a diff lock.

Hill Start Assist

Hill Start Assist automatically holds you in position while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator—there’s no roll-back drama. It even works on the downhills, too!

Engine location

Engine placement is pivotal, situated behind the cab for optimal balance and neutral weight distribution, ensuring exceptional control.

Skid plate

Off-road driving can be challenging, and rough terrain can be unforgiving. We offer generous skid protection and a wide range of accessories to protect vulnerable undercarriage and suspension components.

Front bumper

The standard front bumper offers more vehicle coverage than some other side-by-sides. It is designed to slide smoothly over obstacles in rough conditions while providing good protection.

Recovery hook point

Built into the chassis design, this attaching point makes it easy to secure your SxS for transport and hook up a recovery strap when your buddy on some other brand of side-by-side gets stuck.

Built in the U.S.A.

The entire Talon lineup is purpose-built for the American market, right in America. Domestically and globally sourced parts are assembled at our Timmonsville, South Carolina plant.

Painted body

Painted body parts resist scratches and look better. There's no need to slow down for small brushes on the trail. See for yourself—they look great!

Durable frame finish

Your new frame is fully treated inside and out with an electrostatic surface application during manufacturing and then powder-coated to resist chipping. It will look great for a long time.

Aerodynamic roof

Our attention to detail is evident in the roof's design, which diverts rainwater away from occupants. Additionally, it is aerodynamically cooperative during transportation, whether forward or backward.

Full-coverage hard doors

Hard doors are standard, offering full coverage and excellent weather protection. They provide extra storage space with cupholders and secure compartments. Doors use a double-latch design that’s rattle-free.

Mud and splash protection

Our Talon lineup provides excellent protection against mud and splashes with full-coverage doors and sealed passenger compartment openings.

Driver and passenger protection

The standard roof and hard doors with side nets help shield occupants from debris, while three-point seatbelts and emergency locking retractors enhance security. Seats are also four-point harness compatible for competition use.

Occupant Protection Structure

The vehicle's Occupant Protection Structure meets ISO's rollover protection standard with large-diameter tubing. Standard hard doors and quick-clip side nets help keep debris out of the cabin and occupants inside it. Auto-style three-point seatbelts optimize passenger security with emergency locking retractors.

Door nets

Door nets are now standard equipment and can be quickly and easily latched and unlatched to help protect you from the elements and keep you inside the vehicle.

Adjustable driver's seat

Designed to fit a wide range of operators, it locks positively in position without wobble, helping make you feel more connected to the vehicle.

Tilt wheel

A tilt steering wheel makes high-performance driving even more comfortable. Additionally, the tilt-wheel function makes getting in and out easier.

Comfortable seats

Our industry-leading seats feature a wide seatback and an even wider seat bottom. They are designed to be the most comfortable while providing tons of lateral support. Additionally, they are compatible with four-point harnesses.

Twin-level front passenger footrests

Passengers have plenty of legroom, even for those over six feet tall and wearing bulky boots. The two-level footrests allow for solid bracing on rough terrain or relaxation while cruising.

Integrated inner door handles

All four doors feature an integrated inner door handle, which demonstrates the Talon’s commitment to comfort and convenience.

Passenger "T" grab handle

Your front passenger needs a solid way to hold on, and Honda got it right with the Talons. The “T” handle resides up front and is quickly adjustable, solid, and rattle-free.

Secure cup holders

The two cup holders in the center console and the one in each door can hold a standard-size 30-ounce off-road travel cup.

Large cargo bed

The cargo bed sits up high, out of harm’s way, and easily accessible. It is big enough to easily hold a large 45-quart cooler with room to spare. It has a 299-pound capacity and features six strong tie-down points.

Flag mount

On other side-by-sides, things like the flag mount are an afterthought – not on a Talon. Our designers pay attention to every detail, so the flag mount is fully integrated

Accessories galore

We add more accessories every year and currently offer over 50 for the Talon 1000R. These include a complete audio system, windscreens, a winch, auxiliary LED lighting, body and chassis protection, and our quick-attach Honda Pro-Connect offerings.

Accessory ready

It is easier than ever to install accessories due to the factory pre-wiring under the front hood, which easily integrates with our accessories.
