What to expect

On-Road Motorcycle Classes

Classes are available for every skill level. Basic classes cover fundamental motorcycle controls. Intermediate classes sharpen your traffic smarts and riding skills. Advanced classes offer expert tips and may occur on a racetrack, requiring specialized equipment like racing leathers.

What you’ll need

On-site classes

All you need for basic courses is clothing; a helmet and motorcycle will be provided.

Advanced classes

You may need your own motorcycle and riding gear. You may also need a valid driver's license and/or to complete a basic course first. In-person classes can be as short as half a day to as long as two days.

Individual instruction

The USMCA offers individual one-on-one coaching for dirt, street, and competitive instruction at all levels of rider proficiency.

Finding the right gear

Motorcyclists should wear a motorcycle-specific helmet, eye protection, a protective jacket, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, gloves, and long pants that fit properly. There are plenty of styles and fit options available.

Off-Road Motorcycle Classes

Off-road riding classes are available at different levels. Basic classes cover fundamental controls on various terrains. Intermediate classes focus on more advanced techniques and challenging terrain. Specialized expert classes concentrate on competitive riding, with personalized coaching from current and former racers.

When riding an ATV, it's important to wear a helmet with goggles, a long-sleeved top or jacket, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, gloves, and long pants. Everything should fit well, and there are plenty of options available to suit your style and needs.

SxS Classes

There are a wide variety of SxS courses available. At the basic level, you will learn about understanding your vehicle's parts, starting and stopping smoothly, steering, braking, and swerving. At select locations, you can even practice these skills in a real off-road environment.

What you’ll need

On-site classes

The ROV Basic DriverCourse is a hands-on class for licensed drivers aged 16 and older, conducted by a certified ROV DriverCoach. Before enrolling in an ROV Basic DriverCourse, please note all students must be at least 16 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, and have completed the ROHVA E-Course.

Advanced classes

The Open Trail Experience applies skills acquired in the Closed Range Exercise of the ROV Basic DriverCourse to “real-world” terrain under the guidance of a certified ROHVA DriverCoach.

Finding the right gear

When driving or riding as a passenger, wear a helmet that fits goggles, a long-sleeved top or jacket, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, gloves, and long pants. Ensure everything fits properly. There are plenty of choices available to match your style and needs.
