For round four of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series the Honda Red Riders head to Mt. Morris, PA this Saturday to battle it out at the 36th annual High Point National. This highly regarded track uses the land’s natural elevation to create many uphill double and triple jumps, off-camber and long sweeping corners while being completely fan friendly in a natural amphitheater setting. Since the first gate dropped in 1977, Honda has nailed down a total of 11 victories in the 450 class and nine in the 250 class. In 2012, GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac topped the 250 Class followed by Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia in second overall.
It was a successful weekend at the inaugural Muddy Creek National for Barcia, who grabbed his best result of the season with 2-2 scores for second overall. Tomac also had an impressive showing in Tennessee, ending the day with a masterful display of speed; his second-moto win earned him second overall with 4-1 scores.
“Last weekend was awesome and definitely a good weekend to build on,” explained Barcia. “I have been getting good starts and plan on ripping some more holeshots this weekend at High Point. It is an uphill start, which always adds a little extra challenge to it. The track is great, with pretty good ruts and big jumps. I rode pretty well here last year but I would say my favorite memory of High Point would probably be coming here back in the day with my dad for the Loretta Qualifier. That was always a good time.”
