Following a successful weekend at Daytona Supercross by Honda, the Red Riders head to Indianapolis, IN to battle it out this Saturday inside the Lucas Oil Stadium. This marks the 22nd time the gate will drop in Indianapolis for both the 450 and 250 Supercross classes. The first race held in Indianapolis in 1992 was won by Jeff Stanton aboard a Honda. Honda has eight wins in the 450 class—more than any other brand. Can Barcia, Canard, Reed or Tomac add to that this weekend?
It was an impressive showing by the Honda Red Riders in Daytona with four out of the top six aboard Honda CRF450Rs. Team Honda Muscle Milk rookie Justin Barcia took the podium with a third-place finish in his first Daytona 450 Supercross class appearance. Teammate Trey Canard did his best to log consistent laps ultimately finishing in sixth. GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac scored his career best finish aboard his Honda CRF450R with a fourth-place finish, and TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed put together an impressive performance finishing in fifth. GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn finished a solid second place at Daytona—round four of the Eastern Regional 250 Supercross class—extending his points lead to five heading into Indianapolis.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend. Indy is a fun place to be,” said Hahn. “We’re back in a stadium and it is an awesome dome, so the atmosphere is really cool. For me, I just need to focus on continuing to have fun every race and stay consistent. I’m stoked to have the red plate another weekend and am going to wear it with pride.”
