The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship series made its way north to Oakland, CA for round four of the series. Also home to the Oakland Raiders and Athletic As, the Coliseum held its first Supercross race January 18, 1979, and this year will be the sixth time the gate will drop for a 450 SX class race. Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Trey Canard is a mere 3-points behind the championship leader, and hopes to clinch his first 2013 victory here in Oakland. Teammate Justin Barcia—who was sidelined last weekend in Anaheim after casing a triple—will return to the starting gate in hopes of securing his second win of the season.

“We had press day here in Oakland so we actually got to ride a portion of the track on Thursday and Friday,” stated Canard. “The dirt is really soft so it is going to get very rutted throughout the day on Saturday. As of now the weather is supposed to cooperate, but you can never be too sure here and since it is an open stadium we may have a mud race on our hands. I’m excited to race and hopefully to walk away with the red number plate.”
