    • Sayaka Kaneshiro enters the 2012 AMA WMX Women’s National Motocross Championship series excited and ready to race aboard her new factory-prepared Honda CRF250R. Since moving to the United States from Japan four years ago, Kaneshiro has aspired to be in the top ranks of pro racing. Now, as the newest member of Team Honda Muscle Milk, she will have the support and resources needed to reach the next level in her career.

       “Signing with Team Honda Muscle Milk this year is really a dream come true for me. I feel that I now have all the support I need to bring me closer to accomplishing my goal of winning races and hopefully have a shot at the championship,” said Kaneshiro.

       The 2011 season marked the first year Kaneshiro was able to compete in the entire WMX Championship series, finishing ninth-place overall. She posted consistent results, grabbing two sixth-place finishes at Red Bud and Pala.

      “Being able to race the entire WMX series last year was a huge learning experience for me. Each race gave me a chance to improve my skills and learn what I need to work on for the next round. I know where my strengths are and where I need improvement, and am completely focused on going into this up-coming season prepared.”

       Kaneshiro also competed in the 2009 and 2011 Women’s Supercross event at the X Games. She posted impressive results at both events, finishing seventh in 2009 and sixth in 2011.

       Armed with the Honda CRF250R—the machine that has captured three of the past four WMX championships in the hands of her teammate Ashley Fiolek as well as sweeping the 2012 Supercross Lites championships in the hands of Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac—Kaneshiro’s dedication and determination will surely garner her impressive results this season.
