NHTSA Recall 13V-307

Dear CTX700ND Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

What is the reason for this notice?
Honda has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Honda CTX700ND motorcycles. During assembly of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) modulator an aluminum chip may have been introduced into one of its passages. If an aluminum chip is present and becomes lodged in one of the internal valves there may be a reduction in anti-lock functionality and tire skidding during hard braking could occur. Unexpected skidding of either the front or rear tires under hard braking increases the risk of a crash.

What should you do?
Please call your authorized Honda motorcycle dealer and make an appointment to have your motorcycle’s ABS Modulator replaced at no cost to you. The complete process for repair may take approximately 90 minutes; however, your motorcycle may need to be at the dealer for a longer period of time. We recommend that you plan to leave your motorcycle for at least half a day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.

For assistance with locating a Honda motorcycle dealer, you may call Honda Motorcycle Customer Support at
1-866-784-1870 or use the “find a dealer” option on http://www.powersports.honda.com
