Colton Rider Education Center

Honda Red Rider Ranch is where you learn how to ride. Honda has made the commitment to help riders develop safe and smart riding skills through the establishment of the Honda Rider Education Center.

Honda is proud to be the first motorcycle manufacturer to have created unique sites specifically designed for motorcycle and ATV training and instruction. The centers teach over 11,000 riders a year, and classes are for riders of all ages—from 6 years old to adult.

All coaches are MSF certified instructors. There are male and female coaches on hand who are experienced, fun and enthusiastic.

The Red Rider Ranch in Colton, California, was the first Rider Education Center built. It also has the distinction of being Honda's first Environmental Learning Center, a two-acre plot of land with trails that span five distinct ecosystems featuring over 2500 different species of plants. Riders can get a feel for grassland, chaparral, woodland, riparian and desert terrains–all inspired by trails native to nearby San Bernardino National Forest and the Mojave Desert.

Courses

ATV Rider Course

The ATV Rider Course provides a fast-paced, half-day, hands-on training session that includes pre-ride inspection, starting and stopping, quick turns, hill riding, emergency stopping and swerving, and riding over obstacles. You'll also learn about protective gear, local regulations, places to ride and environmental concerns. Bring your friends and family, and meet new friends to ride with. To register, call ASI at 800-887-2887; request the Honda Colton site.

MSF DirtBike School

As part of our five-hour DirtBike course, you will learn the fundamental and technical skills needed to operate your off-road bike in a safe and smart manner. We will teach you the functions of the controls on your motorcycle—starting, stopping, shifting, cornering, standing, proper body positions, and how to go over certain obstacles. One thing very important for young kids: It's imperative that they start off knowing how to operate the controls on the motorcycle so they realize that they have control over the motorcycle and not that the motorcycle has control over them. Private classes (two students) and family classes (five family members) offered on request for weekdays or weekends. We also do kids' birthday parties ages 6-12 years old. Call for pricing. We supply motorcycle and gear.

To register, visit www.dirtbikeschool.com or call 909-430-3000.

Street – Basic Rider Course

The Basic Rider Course is a 15-hour course taught by Rider Coaches certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) using a curriculum developed by MSF. All riders in California under 21 years of age must successfully complete this course to obtain a motorcycle license or endorsement. Upon successful completion of the Basic Rider Course, students are mailed a Certificate of Completion of Motorcycle Training (DL389). The motorcycle riding test given by the DMV may be waived with this certification, and graduates may also qualify for insurance premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers.

The Basic Rider Course is aimed at beginning riders of all ages 15-1/2 and older. To take this course, you must present a valid driver's license, learner's permit, or a certificate showing completion of the classroom portion of driver's education. If under 18, a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

To register, visit www.ca-msp.org or call 909-430-3000.

Street – Experienced Rider Course

Courses in the Experienced Rider Course Suite are taught by Rider Coaches certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) using a curriculum developed by MSF.

Even if you've been riding for some time, there's always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the five- to six-hour Experienced Rider Course Suite courses to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

On the range, you'll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. These courses also provide valuable information about protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding. Optional skill evaluation and knowledge tests are available.

To register, visit www.ca-msp.org or call 909-430-3000.
