Members of the press recently enjoyed a big surprise from Honda: the unveiling of the brand-new Gold Wing Valkyrie. This is a truly unique cruiser, a machine unlike any other. It’s aimed at people who appreciate distinctive style and who want the kind of performance no cruiser can match. In short, the Valkyrie redefines the term ‘muscle cruiser.’
During an upscale press function hosted by American Honda at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, the impressive new Valkyrie took over the center stage from all of the other collectible hardware at the museum. The event was extremely well attended, and included special guests such as Los Angeles Police Chief–and Honda fan—Charlie Beck and comedian Alonso Bodden.
Judging by the reaction of the gathered journalists, the Valkyrie is bound to make a big impression on the riding population. Some of the first thoughts posted online from journalists include:
“Big Red puts the POW back in power cruiser.”—Cycle World magazine
“Power to weight is the name of the game here, suggesting the new Valky should be a hoot to ride.”—Motorcyclist online
“Even though Honda has made a splash in the entry-level market with bikes like the 125cc Grom, that doesn’t mean that it has forgotten the high-performance rider. So after a 10-year absence Honda is back in the muscle-cruiser market with the return of the Valkyrie.”—Cycle News
“At a time when Honda continues to release new units aimed at the incoming rider class with economical, easy, and fun-to-ride motorcycles, it’s nice to see them bring back an icon for the seasoned veterans too.”—RoadRUNNER
