Fans of motorcycle road racing in the USA today are fortunate indeed because this country plays host to two stops on the MotoGP calendar. The undulating Laguna Seca track in Monterey was the first to host a USGP, and the full gamut of ultra-high-tech track machinery has made quick work of Laguna’s hillsides. First came the 500cc two-strokes, then the first generation of 1000cc four-strokes, followed by the 800cc era and now the return to liter bikes.

We can’t recreate the shriek of racing engines at full tilt nor the intoxicating aroma of race gas as it’s transformed into awe-inspiring amounts of horsepower, but here we can bring back some of our favorite images of racers past as they made their way around one of the most distinctive and colorful tracks in the world.
