You’ve got tough jobs to do. And to do them right, you need the right tools. When that includes a side-by-side MUV, the smart money is on Honda’s Big Red. With refinements like a bench-style seat, generous cargo bed and towing capacity, and Maxxis Big Horn tires, the Big Red is big on features.

Contoured Bench Seat

Big Red’s 2-passenger contoured bench seat provides more room and allows easier entry and exit.

Doors with Double Latch Mechanism

Big Red’s rugged, composite doors feature an automotive style double latching system securing you and your passengers in while keeping what nature throws at you out.

Honda Automatic Transmission

Quite simply, this is the best automatic transmission available in any MUV. Big claim? Sure, but check out these features: A stout, heavy-duty hydraulic torque converter (instead of a system of pulleys and belts) and positive engine braking.

Any vehicle is only as tough as its driveline—its engine, transmission, and running gear. And that’s one of the things that really sets Big Red apart.

Occupant Protection Structure

We built Big Red's stout Occupant Protection Structure around the rider and passenger, and positioned the seats so you're well protected. In addition, Big Red's Occupant Protection Structure even meets OSHA's 1928.53 rollover protection standard.

Side Nets

Big Red’s roll-up side nets (standard equipment) make cleaning and maintenance easier. But remember to attach them fully before you get going.

675cc Liquid-Cooled Engine with Fuel Injection

Honda is famous for our engines, and we gave Big Red one of our best. It’s a liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder with plenty of torque.Our programmed fuel injection means it starts right up, even on cold days or at high altitude, and also helps get the most out of a tankful of gas.

Occupant Protection Structure

We built Big Red's stout Occupant Protection Structure around the rider and passenger, so you're well protected. Built out of sturdy, large diameter tubing, Big Red's Occupant Protection Structure includes such details as integrated handholds, recessed top tubes and a more spacious structure to enhance protection. In addition, Big Red's Occupant Protection Structure even meets OSHA's 1928.53 rollover protection standard.

Maxxis Big Horn Tires

This year Big Red gets new, specially designed 25 x 10-12 front and rear tires with increased sidewall strength and a more aggressive tread pattern. Also new this year are the black wheels on all Big Red models.

With fully independent suspension on all four corners, Big Red returns superior traction and gives you a better ride in the bargain.

Automotive Seatbelts

You’d think all seatbelts are alike, but that’s hardly the case. And once again, Big Red’s attention to detail sets this MUV apart. We use automotive-style three-point belts with an Emergency Locking Retractor mechanism to help keep you and your passenger safe and secure.

Independent Double-Wishbone Front Suspension

Front independent double-wishbone suspension contributes to Big Red’s all-day riding comfort.

Four-Wheel Disc Brakes

Naturally, we gave Big Red the best brakes in the business: hydraulic discs on all four wheels. A patented scraper system helps prevent debris buildup between caliper and rim, and best of all the balanced, automotive design features two separate braking circuits which ensures front and rear braking even if one brake line is damaged.

Automotive Seatbelts

Adjustable Preload Rear Shocks

In addition to a fully independent rear suspension, the rear shocks now feature preload adjustability to better handle Big Red’s increased load capabilities.

Big Red was already one of the hardest working MUVs in the world, but we’ve made it even better by boosting both the towing capacity and how much you can haul in the bed. It’s about the only way we could have made this awesome MUV any better.

1,000 lb. Cargo Bed Capacity

MUVs are built to haul stuff, and Big Red is ready to get to work. First, we’ve increased the maximum bed capacity to 1,000 pounds. And Big Red uses a steel tilt bed with a composite liner and a heavy-duty hydraulic assist that makes operation easy.

1,500 lb. Towing Capacity

Big Red has a heavy-duty two-inch receiver-style hitch and we’ve increased the towing capacity to 1,500 lbs.

Our semi-dry sump design and overhead valve design give you an engine that's shorter from top to bottom.The compact engine both lowers the center of gravity and increases ground clearance.

Honda Automatic Five-Speed Transmission

The Rancher AT's Honda automatic five-speed transmission features two modes: The Rancher can shift into the forward gears automatically, or you can shift into five forward gears, neutral and reverse. Shifting is super-fast and super-efficient thanks to the innovative twin-clutch design.

Shaft Final Drive

There’s not a chain or belt in sight here-just strong, sealed driveshafts you can count on for long, maintenance-free service.

Longitudinal Engine Layout

All Honda Utility vehicles feature a longitudinally mounted engine that allows direct driveshaft alignment to both front and rear wheels for improved drivetrain efficiency.

Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)

Being able to count on crisp performance and starting under any conditions is a must for anyone who depends on their ATV. Thanks to Honda's Programmed Fuel-Injection (PGM-FI), the Rancher AT not only ensures trouble-free operation in the cold and at varying altitudes.

Electric Shift Program (ESP)

Upshifting or downshifting is easy and fast—just push one of two handlebar-mounted buttons. ESP is a huge advantage when riding in heavy boots, or if your boots are covered in mud or snow.

Front and Rear Racks

Allow you to shift from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive when encountering rough terrain.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

Electric Power Steering (EPS) is both speed- and torque-sensitive. In addition to reducing steering effort, EPS also reduces kickback through the handlebar. EPS is a huge benefit that helps reduce fatigue, especially over rocky trails, ruts, and when riding on sidehills.

Aggressive ATV Tires

Your ATV’s traction is only as good as the tires you have on it. That’s why we put premium off-road knobbies on all our Ranchers. Low pressure and deep lugs means you’ll just power through where other guys get stuck.

Semi-Dry-Sump Engine Design

Compact and lighter-weight, the Foreman 4x4's semi-dry sump and overhead valve designs create an engine that's not only shorter from top to bottom, but one that enhances handling by lowering the center of gravity while increasing ground clearance as well.
