Honda Powersports Racing - Motocross Schedule - 09 AMA Motocross

At Southwick all-day rain had left the track wet, sandy and rutty. No problem for Honda rider Justin Barcia though: he won his first-ever AMA National victory!

If there’s sand, it must be Southwick: Honda Red Bull Rider Andrew Short aboard his CRF450R started Moto One in fifth and finished in seventh.

Honda Red Bull rider Davi Millsaps started Moto One in thirteenth, finished in fourteenth, and is probably still washing Southwick sand out of his gear.

Honda Red Bull’s Ivan Tedesco had a very challenging race because of the rutted track, finishing Moto One in 36th. He had a much better race in Moto Two, finishing fifth.

In Moto Two Andrew Short grabbed the holeshot and went on to finish ninth. His 7-9 score gave him seventh for the day; he continues to sit in second place overall for the season.

In the difficult track conditions, Davi Millsaps finished Moto Two in twentieth. His 14-20 score gave him eighteenth for the day and he sits in eleventh overall for the season.

In the Lites class, GEICO Powersports Honda rider Blake Wharton aboard his CRF250R, began Moto One in first and finished third.

Justin Barcia began Moto One in third and finished first, and in Moto Two finished third. His 1-3 score gave him his first-ever national AMA victory. Congratulations, Justin!

GEICO Powersports Honda rider Brett Metcalfe started Moto One in sixth but was able to move up two positions in fourth. Every GEICO Powersports Honda rider finished in the top four!

In Moto Two of the Lites, GEICO Powersports Honda rider Brett Metcalfe finished the race in second, giving him third for the day. He currently sits in third overall with one round to go.

Today just felt like my day. I woke up in a really good mood and everything just went smooth. I really love it here [at Southwick] and I'm really happy to get my first win here.

In the Women’s class, Honda Red Bull rider Ashley Fiolek finished Moto One in third and Moto Two in second, good for second overall. Fiolek continues to hold first overall for the season.
