Millsaps Podiums, KW Fifth in Daytona SX
Despite a start that had him mired back in 13th, Red Bull Honda’s Davi Millsaps worked his way up to finish third and grab the final spot on the podium at the Daytona Supercross. Geico Powersports Honda’s Kevin Windham took the checkers two places back in fifth.
It wasn’t easy for Millsaps by any means, but the factory Honda rider certainly made it exciting with a hard-charging, last-lap pass on Mike Alessi that saw both bikes tangle before Millsaps broke free to beat the Suzuki rider to the flag.
Red Bull Honda’s Andrew Short finished eighth, with teammate Ivan Tedesco 13th.
With 10 rounds of the 2009 AMA/FIM Supercross Series now in the can, Short sits third in the standings, at 163, with Tedesco sixth (138), Millsaps seventh (136), and Windham ninth (128).
The series now heads to New Orleans, where racing will pick back up March 14, at the Superdome.
